Adjusting the pedal plates on a bicycle or sports boat

Measuring tape & meter stick have a break!
The true-to-scale ruler of the SABLONA provides precise measurements.
The tool is applied directly and retains its shape!

The traditional focus on the bottom bracket center gets a new sight: from the frame and to the pedal axle!
Pedal-Saddle-Offset
You have found your saddle position and it is successfully established?
Now you want to transfer this saddle offset to another bike?
Connect pedals and saddle!
Different crank lengths do not matter, your pedaling style remains as good as possible!
The position of a prominent point on the saddle is transferred to the crank arm using a plumb line.
The position of the saddles, which should ideally be identical, can be precisely defined.
Did you know
the standardized saddle center
is located at the point where the saddle is 9 cm wide

HOW?

BENDING
One corner of the cleat multitool has a concave shape:
This semicircular recess
fits exactly on the pedal axle,
to which the tool is finally held
CONNECTING POINT
The tool is held from the center of the pedal axle towards the bottom bracket, with the cranks horizontal. The desired relative saddle offset is where the plumb line (coming from the saddle tip) and the tool come together
OFFSET
This is an elegant way to check the alignment of the saddle relative to the pedal!Achieve more individuality and even more confidence in your sitting position!

With this simple procedure, the seat position can be
– despite different crank lengths – equalized!

HOW?

BENDING
One corner of the cleat multitool has a concave shape:
This circular recess fits exactly to the pedal axle – here the tool will be positioned
ASCENDING LINES
On the same long side there is an arrangement of lines which – from short to long – mark the different distances between the center of the crank and the center of the pedal axle. When held horizontally to the pedal axle, one line meets the center of the crank

CRANK

NEW STANDARD
If the crank length is taken into account when determining the saddle position, an alternative individual measurement of the saddle offset is created!

Did you know?
various types of bikes are currently being fitted with previously atypically short (< 160 mm) cranks:
the classic 170-172.5-175 mm gradation will soon be outfashioned
Check the center of the ball of the foot:
The defined point (ball of the big toe) on the inside of the shoe is extended towards the sole.
According to the V-II-A concept, the resulting line defines the rearmost position of the ball of the foot. The shoe is pushed forward, please refer to the recommendations depending on the shoe size.

Control
The crank is horizontal, the shoe is clicked into the pedal. The inclination of the shoe sole is similar to the pedaling style.
Coming from the front wheel, the round corner of the SABLONA is held against the pedal axle. The vertical edge corresponds to the center of the pedal axle

Ideal case
Ideally, the mark on the foot is in front of the tool edge.
Viewed from above, the metatarsophalangeal joint is in front of the pedal axle.

ALIGNMENT
The ruler can be used to measure and check the brake-lever widths: drop bar & straight bar too

SYMMETRY
The gap between the brake lever and handle is to be set symmetrically.
Hoods should be used when riding road-bike or gravel-bike bars
The shift/brake lever on the handlebar provides an additional position for both hands. This brake lever body provides a comfortable and universal hand position which is always ready for safety brakes.
PRACTICAL USE
Both grips should be symmetrical and at the same height. The lower edge of the handlebar arch is recommended as a reference line. It does not matter whether the brake lever shifts electronically or manually and brakes with a cable or hydraulically
HOW ?
The long edge of the Sablona-tool is held to the lower handlebar arch. The line which is virtually continuing from the handlebar bow is now visible!
Please notice!
the lever inclination changes again slightly,
when the clamps are finally and firmly tightened!
Did you know? Levers on straight bars
MTB handlebars have usually their levers mounted in direct contact with the grip, maybe for symmetry-reasons?! This means that the distance from the center is equal. Additional clamps are aligned, which makes sense from the mechanical point of view.
PRAXIS WORKS
The SABLONA makes it possible to adjust the tilt and position symmetrically, even without direct contact to the grips:
The tool is placed on the grip, handlebar end or stem, now measure the respective distance.
HOW ?
Fix the tool from the grip. The preferred distance is marked directly on the tool. This mark is copied to the other side of the handlebars by turning the tool.
The alignment of both sides are the same!
Inclination, spacing and symmetry
of brake levers and other clamps are easily
recognized and suitably positioned on straight bars

DROP
How deep is the drop?
Hold the ruler to the bar, measure the drop from center-to-center.
Did you know:
So called compact-handlebars have an approx. 120mm drop.

REACH
How far forward is the reach of the handlebar reach, how close are the brake levers? The reach is the horizontal distance between bar and lever.
Did you know?
Compact road handlebars have a reach of approx. 70mm

FRAME SIZR
Our alternative recommendation to determine the frame size:
Find your frame size
Apart from our recommendation that you consult your local or trusted bicycle dealer when choosing a frame size, this new approach is intended to provide an alternative assistance from praxis works.
Background:
The seat tube can be easily and functionally adjusted in length using any longer seat post.
The head tube is somehow much more complicated if you want to achieve comfort. The steering tube cannot be extended and spacer towers are somehow limited. In addition, integrated headset on modern bikes limit your creativity.
Do you know the effective head tube length?
What counts is the head tube length without any bearings!

Steerer tube length
The length of the head tube can be precisely measured with the tool:
29 measurable centimeters !
The long side of the SABLONA is held to the head tube.
Supporting your mindset
The desired length is marked on the ruler. Hold it to another bike, the marking shows your size.
Which steering size has been the best for you – so far?
We would like to point out that no legal or other claims can be made!
The decision between frame sizes remains a personal one, the preferred riding characteristics, the physical conditions as well as your age make a difference!
Does a pro-bike really suit your body?!
Adjustment and controlling of saddle height with the SABLONA-tool.
How to determine saddle height with the Sablona ?
The tool is placed to the seat post.
The 90°-edge is held at the starting point.
A prominent point on the frame or the seat clamp serve an ideal zero point, any individual marking on the tool is easier to read.

Horizon
Any curved, i.e. banana-shaped or concave saddle surface, challenge the measurable saddle height.
What is the horizontal line?
How is the saddle adjusted even?
How is the saddle height measured in the end?
SADDLE MIDPOINT
The SABLONA can be used to define the so-called middle saddle point:
The relative horizontal line is to be found by placing the tool on the saddle. The greatest possible contact area (between tool and saddle), which makes a flat surface is created.

FLAMME ROUGE
Determining distances in centimetres and millimetres is equivalent to the last 1000m of a bike race.
Flamme Rouge – mobilize yourself once more and then you’re done!
